Madison and Chris’ Positano elopement began with a leap of faith. Just two months before their trip to Italy, they decided to add a symbolic wedding ceremony to their vacation — choosing to exchange their vows, just the two of them, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Amalfi Coast. With no time to arrange a civil ceremony in Italy, they even made their marriage legal on the way to the airport before leaving for their Italian adventure.
Their wedding day began at Buca di Bacco, where Madison got ready overlooking Positano’s iconic cascade of pastel-colored houses. Her elegant, softly undone hairstyle complemented her off-the-shoulder gown, while carefully chosen details in shades of blue and yellow added a distinctly Positano-inspired touch to the celebration.
For their First Look, Madison and Chris met on the seafront in the middle of Positano. Surrounded by locals and curious travelers, their first glimpse of one another was met with spontaneous applause – a wonderfully unexpected moment that captured the joyful, unfiltered spirit of an elopement in one of Italy’s most beloved destinations.
From Spiaggia Grande, the couple made their way along the picturesque path toward Hotel Pupetto in Fornillo, stopping along the way for portraits with photographer Sergio Sorrentino. The journey itself became part of the celebration, weaving together the colorful architecture, hidden corners and unmistakable Mediterranean atmosphere of Positano.
At sunset, the couple exchanged their promises on the stone shoreline of Hotel Pupetto. A lush floral installation of roses, lisianthus, dahlias and delphinium framed the ceremony, while the ancient Fornillo watchtower glowed in the warm evening light.
After a sparkling toast, the newlyweds continued the celebration on a traditional gozzo boat, sailing along the Amalfi Coast as the sun began to set. With the breeze moving through Madison’s hair and the coastline unfolding around them, the boat ride became a private moment to simply enjoy their first hours as newlyweds, complete with a sunset aperitivo and unforgettable views of Positano from the water.
The evening ended beneath the stars with an intimate candlelit dinner for two. After the movement and energy of the day, the couple could finally slow down and savor fresh local dishes in an atmosphere that felt entirely private and personal.
