Blossom-kissed celebration on the Positano rooftop
M&A’s wedding in Positano, on the Amalfi Coast was a floral dream, with blossoms everywhere and a live painter capturing the magic of their rooftop wedding ceremony.
This Spring rooftop wedding has been featured on The White Wren.
The timeless elegance together with the natural beauty of the place set the mood for this dream Spring rooftop wedding in Positano, planned and designed by Amalfi Soirée and captured by Lace & Luce’s camera and a local live painter.
“Andrew and I took a leap of faith deciding to get married in Italy and have a rooftop wedding in Positano and it turned out to be the most romantic and intimate adventure we could have imagined” commented the bride.
The couple dreamed of an intimate and engaging wedding experience, that tasted like the sea and pizzas, and that made everyone feel loved and welcome. The wedding day was the perfect opportunity to have all their loved ones in the same place and Positano proved to be the perfect destination.
Upon their arrival in Italy, McKinley and Andrew welcomed families and friends with a candlelit dinner at Palazzo Murat, a renowned 4-star hotel surrounded by greenery with views of the majolica dome of the city’s main church and of the iconic hill with colored little houses that descend to the beach.
In this refined venue which hosted, as the name suggests, even the King of Naples Joachim Murat, brother-in-law of Napoleon Bonaparte, a tasty menu, which included plenty of pasta and strawberry tiramisu, was served poolside.
The next day, the wedding started at Marincanto hotel, one of the chicest places in Amalfi Coast, from whose flowered terraces you can enjoy the incredible view of the bay, the sea and the island of Capri in the distance.
Piero Mansi and Araceli Acosta created a simple, sophisticated look for the bride that emphasized McKinley’s natural beauty, thanks to a low chignon and a bright makeup.
The wedding dress was by Monique Lhuiller with the sleeves custom made by Mila Hosford at Fichu Wedding Dress Alterations in San Francisco, California.
From the wedding planner: “We knew that we were working with a super creative couple who really cared about their wedding from the moment we were asked to make their wedding invitations. The care with which they selected every detail – from the type of paper to the font to the printing technique to the choice of the subject of the illustration – was astonishing. We tried to bring all those ideas to life on the wedding day thanks to an eye-catching, functional and romantic design.”
At the pre-arranged time, the rooftop terrace was tinged with delicate shades of pink and white that competed with the shades of the sky.
The Rosalinda Flowers Weddings Lab team created harmonious garden-style floral arrangements, which included roses, scabiosa and lilac.
Carmela from Italy Wedding Celebrant hosted an evocative symbolic ceremony on the rooftop including an unforgettable rite of unity, while violin and cello enchanted everyone with the sweet melodies of Ennio Morricone.
The most important moment of the day was also portrayed on canvas by the live painter Vittorio Abbate from Buongiorno Ravello, who had previously created a Positanese landscape in watercolor for the invitations. The painting of the ceremony, created with impressionist-style oil paint using overlapping brush strokes, was then completed in his studio and sent directly to the newlyweds’ home upon their return from their honeymoon.
After a fun aperitif at sunset, the party continued on the terrace of the bridal suite with a seated dinner based on typical Italian cuisine. The cups were filled with abundant prosecco when the spouses cut the traditional sponge cake with Amalfi lemon cream by Angelo Pasticceria Praiano.
Instead of applause, McKinley and Andrew were celebrated by the lively sound of hand-painted tambourines that served as placeholders. An improvised tarantella that they will hardly forget!
