A romantic surprise proposal on Capri island
This unforgettable marriage proposal in Capri is what dreams are made of!
When Christian started planning with Amalfi Soirèe, it was clear that it would not be a marriage proposal like many others, but there were many difficulties to face. Tight timelines due to the late opening of borders after the covid and the low availability of wedding suppliers, already booked for events postponed since 2020, were among these anyway Amalfi Soirée team took the opportunity to be more creative than the usual.
“This was the first event we produced after the forced stop due to the pandemic. We wanted it to be unforgettable!” says Monica, the main wedding planner.
The location chosen for this very special day was Villa Lysis, a wonderful historic villa on the island of Capri that offers a spectacular view of the sea and the bay. The elevated position and the impossibility of reaching it by public transport made this venue perfect: intimate, cozy, romantic, silent and not very frequented by mass tourism.
On the established day, a characteristic cart awaited the couple at the entrance to their hotel, Tiberio Palace. To Iulia’s amazement, the cart soon began to take small uphill alleys, immersed in the Mediterranean scrub and smelling of maritime pine, until it stoped in front of an elegant wrought iron gate.
As they admired the splendid Art Nouveau architecture of Villa Lysis, a sweet melody from the main terrace wafted through the air: Your song, from Iulia’s favorite film, Moulin Rouge. “It’s my song!” exclaimed Iulia as she dragged her partner by the hand to a bench where two musicians, violin and guitar, had started playing “casually” upon their arrival.
Iulia’s surprise was indescribable when Christian led her to the center of the terrace, right under the statue of the “Little Fisherman”, and, while a beautiful golden light filled the scene, knelt down to ask her to marry him.
These beautiful moments were masterfully captured by the Fine Art photographer Sergio Sorrentino, who, blending in among the few tourists present, revealed himself at the right moment with great discretion so as not to break the spell of the moment. After a musical encore and a romantic dance with a view, the day continued with a carefree engagement photo session in the splendid gardens of the villa and in the famous “piazzetta”.
The sun was setting behind the island when the couple reached La Canzone del Mare, a renowned restaurant in Marina Piccola, reserved entirely and exclusively for them. A beautiful table for two was set up by Oltre il Giardino in front of the Faraglioni, the iconic rocks of Capri.
A bouquet of garden roses, scabiosa and lysiantus lent a touch of sophistication to the scene. Delicious dishes prepared with fresh fish of the day and local ingredients were served during dinner, fine wines and champagnes filled the glasses. Shortly before midnight, a fireworks display by Capri Fireworks lit up the small secret bay to the tune of Andrea Bocelli’s Perfect Symphony, in the warm Capri night.
What made this day even more perfect came from the sea, totally unexpected: all the boats anchored nearby emitted sounds and vapors of thanks for the beautiful light show that had just ended, and applause and congratulations in many languages came up to the ears of the two lovers, filling their hearts with joy.
