A postponed wedding in Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast
Despite a global pandemic, forced separations and various difficulties, Alanna and Reid never lost hope and in the summer of 2021 they finally fulfilled their dream of having a fantastic 3-day destination wedding in Ravello, Italy.
The future bride, in fact, in addition to being a popular fitness influencer, is a experienced and caring nurse who fought the battle against Covid-19 from the front line.
“Having had such a long and difficult planning, I had the opportunity to know Alanna in a deeply way, and to appreciate all her beautiful qualities. What I’ve appreciated the most is certainly her resilience and her indestructible optimism. Even when the pandemic kept her separated from Reid for 7 months, preventing her from joining him in Europe, she never lost her heart kindness. I have been so happy to guide her on this path that has been, in many ways, new for us too! Until a month before the event, we still did not know exactly which protocols would be adopted by the government and what travel restrictions there would be. The introduction of the Green Pass has simplified many things and allowed Italy to return to welcome foreign tourists safely, and to have a unforgettable weddings without a mask but respectful of everyone’s health “says Monica from Amalfi Soirée.
Weekend Wedding in Ravello
On the first day, the couple welcomed families and friends with a pizza party in perfect Italian style. Surrounded by the natural beaty of Ravello, they tasted the real Neapolitan Pizza served in one of the most popular restaurant in the area, Ristorante Pizzeria Da Mimì.
Following, a wedding in Ravello, with a ceremony and reception with a Mediterranean touch at Villa Eva, a refined private villa overlooking the sea obtained from an Art Nouveau building, in the historic center of the town, in the heart of the Amalfi Coast.
While the last preparations were being completed, the guests, halved in the number but full of enthusiasm, gathered in the courtyard of their hotel, Villa Maria, under a flowery pergola. Refreshing drinks were served as a 5-elements band recruited by Ravello Wedding Music performed lighthearted songs from the Italian musical tradition. At the opening of the gates of the wedding venue, decorated for the occasion with a flag with the bridal crest, the musicians, accompanied by clapping to the music, led the small group to the surprise wedding location. Everyone was pleasantly amazed to discover the wide gardens full of flowers and the jawdropping panorama.
On the suggestive Belvedere Terrace, the groom, in an elegant black suit, was waiting smiling for his “amore”. A composition of delphiniums and garden roses emphasized the natural setting, opening up to a breathtaking view of the sea and mountains in the distance.
Alanna wore a flattering wrap-silhouette dress by Rime Arodaky in crepe and plumetis with a draped bodice and long rushed sleeves that enhanced her athletic silhouette. A delightful bouquet of yellow and peach roses, lisianthus, forget-me-nots and wax flowers created by Kuts Flowers perfectly matched the bride’s sophisticated and relaxed outfit. The symbolic ceremony, celebrated by a close friend of the couple, was made even more touching by a special prayer to remember the dearly departed and by the unity ritual of the candles, symbol of the creation of a new family.
The married couple’s first kiss was greeted with tears of happiness as the sun set in a pastel sky.
The party then moved to the immense gardens for a cocktail full of local delicacies and excellent wine. The Italian band created an unforgettable moment of lightheartedness, entertaining guests with engaging songs such as O ’Sole Mio and Volare.
Amalfi Soirée created a long harmonious and functional table in the elegant marquee covered with scented jasmine, adding unique elements such as the beautiful hand-painted limoncello bottles from Antichi Sapori di Amalfi and the day-of paper pieces, made, as well as the invitations, by the planning team. The splendid centerpieces of roses and delphiniums, and the low compositions at the ends of the table, gave a touch of luxury to the reception.
After the dinner, which took place in an atmosphere of great complicity and intimacy, the guests went wild on the dance floor under the stars, strictly outside as per anti-covid protocol.
Finally, while Alanna and Reid were cutting the wedding cake surrounded by flowers and magical lights, Sergio Sorrentino captured the joyful moments in timeless images that will undoubtedly become lovely family heirlooms.
“Every single of our guests said it was the best wedding they have ever been to. The whole team exceeded all our expectations. From the band, to the flowers, to dinner…the entire process flowed so smoothly. It was such a joy seeing all of our guests light up with love and happiness as we celebrated this day together. Our wedding in Ravello was so easy going and fun, and that’s how weddings should be!” commented the couple at the end of the glorious day.
For the last day, a boat tour by gozzo, the traditional Amalfi Coast boat, along the coast closed the celebration. After a fun excursion for admiring the Italian seascape from a new perspective, the cheerful company was enlivened by the beach restaurant Il Risorgimento, hidden in a secret bay in Conca dei Marini, with a lunch of fresh fish, seafood and local wine. With one last swim, the happy group landed in Amalfi, and got a swab test in a local pharmacy in a few minutes for a safe return to the States, enjoyed the last private moments in Italy to recall the wonderful days just passed and the beautiful memories that have swept away the bitter taste of the postponement. For Alanna and Reid, this is certainly a story of love and resilience to be handed down to their granchildren.
