There is something wonderfully timeless about a wedding that brings together two cultures, two places, and two different ways of celebrating love. Set along the dramatic Amalfi Coast, this destination wedding was an elegant meeting of Chinese-inspired details and the unmistakable beauty of an Italian spring.
The celebration began at the ancient ruins of Sant’Eustachio in Scala, where centuries-old stone walls and sweeping views over the coast created a setting rich with history and atmosphere. Surrounded by the rugged landscape, the ceremony felt intimate and almost otherworldly, a beautiful contrast between the weathered architecture of the ruins and a delicate palette inspired by spring sorbets.
Soft shades of blush, peach, apricot, lemon and pistachio brought a fresh, joyful quality to the design, while subtle Chinese-inspired details added meaning and a sense of heritage throughout the celebration. During the ceremony, Cicie and Jesung incorporated two beautiful unity rituals that honored their traditions and brought a deeply personal touch to their vows.
The first was a butterfly release, symbolizing transformation, new beginnings and the journey the couple was embarking on together. The butterflies added an unexpected moment of sweetness and laughter when a few of them decided to land on the bride’s floral crown, creating one of those spontaneous moments that could never have been planned – and that made the ceremony all the more memorable.
The second was a traditional tea ceremony, during which the couple exchanged delicate Chinese teacups. More than a beautiful ritual, it became a meaningful expression of respect, gratitude and the joining of two families, seamlessly woven into their Italian celebration.
After the ceremony, the celebration moved from land to sea. The couple boarded a private boat for a sunset tour along the Amalfi Coast, watching the coastline of Amalfi glow in the last light of the day. With the Mediterranean stretching endlessly around them, the boat ride became an experience in itself, an effortless Italian interlude between ceremony and dinner.
As evening arrived, guests gathered for a reception at the iconic Hotel Santa Caterina. The spring-inspired palette continued through the floral arrangements and tablescape, bringing together soft pastel blooms, delicate textures and warm candlelight. The result was romantic without feeling overly formal, with every detail designed to complement rather than compete with the extraordinary setting of the rustic-chic Al Mare restaurant.
From ancient ruins and meaningful Chinese rituals to a sunset on the Mediterranean and an elegant dinner overlooking the sea, Cicie and Jesung’s wedding unfolded as a journey through the many layers of the Amalfi Coast. It offered their guests more than a beautiful destination — it invited them to experience Italy through the landscape, the traditions, the flavors and the unhurried rhythm of an Amalfi spring, while celebrating a love story that beautifully bridges two worlds.
