Eloping in Italy: tips for a masks-free wedding in Amalfi Coast
As Amalfi Coast wedding planner at the time of the coronavirus, I’ve planned several weddings in Italy and their subsequent postponements, and I know how traumatic they can be: a postponement is not a simple date change and has direct consequences on the life plans of the couple.
Therefore, now that Italy and Europe are a little safer, I advise those who do not want to put their lives, and everything that goes with it – pregnancies, movings, job changes – on standby to consider the idea of an elopement.
If up to a few months ago, in fact, elopements were very popular solution for couples who wanted to add romance and intimacy to the celebration, today eloping in Italy with no or few guests means not to postpone until next year, and to safely reprogram a wedding that was planned for 2020.
Tips for a post-pandemic elopement on the Amalfi Coast
At Amalfi Soirée we love to plan romantic bespoke weddings and we are always very happy to create an extraordinary wedding experience, which combines the emotion of the ritual with the light-heartedness of a honeymoon.
Here are some tips for all the “corona brides”:
Hire a Amalfi Coast planner
Although planning an elopement is less demanding than a destination wedding with many guests, don’t underestimate the fact that you are dealing with a wedding for the first time in your life, that you are planning from afar, that vendors may not know your language well, that the culture and laws are different from those of your country of origin, that the area has some challenges – for example the logistics – that only an Amalfitana knows well and can easily manage.
Having a local planner will make the process more fluid and pleasant for a memorable and stress-free experience: in a period of uncertainty like this, the direct contact between your Italian planner and vendors will ensure the maximum flexibility on dates and payments.
After all, you don’t want to remember your beautiful wedding in Italy for the sleepless nights before the big day, right?
Enjoy your honeymoon
If you want to have the Amalfi Coast all for yourself, then book your vacation for the next few months.
The weather is the best we have had for many years: hot, not muggy and with a pleasant fresh wind. The sea glitters and refreshes the semi-deserted beaches, and museums and historical places are not stormed by tourists.
Ravello, Positano and Capri reveal their most authentic side.
Custom your ceremony
For a truly unforgettable and exciting rite, consider the symbolic ceremony. It is much simpler to organize, but also more meaningful and flexible because you can include your favorite songs, poems, movie phrases.
It can also take place anywhere: on the terrace overlooking the sea of your hotel or, as in the photos taken by the talented Sandra, in the unspoiled nature.
A 5-star dinner
On the wedding evening of your destination elopement, have a nice dinner for two with typical local products: spaghetti with seafoods parmigiana, scamorza cheese cooked in a lemon leaf… gnammy!
Whether it’s a dinner in your private suite, or by the poolside, or a table for two on the rocks, it will enrich your day with a fairytale atmosphere and good Italian food.
Take the opportunity for a beautiful holiday with your love in the most romantic place in the world!
If you want to immerse yourself in the mood of the place, I will be glad to plan for you a series of engaging and super romantic experiences: boat trip, dinner on the beach, day in the spa, pizza experience and limoncello tour are just some of the many things you can do on the Amalfi Coast.
Wouldn’t it be nice to learn how to make a heart-shaped pizza in the city where the pizza has been invented?
Engage your loved ones
I know this may sound weird, but it is possible to include those who have stayed at home: your families and your friends. There are lots of solutions and funny ideas to make them partecipate, but the most common one is to hire a videographer.
Not only he/she will create a wedding video to show once you come home, she/he can even make a live streaming video of your ceremony. The distance between your home country and Italy has never been shorter!
Follow the rules
As for the world of weddings, the rules to follow can be summed up in the use of the mask in public closed spaces, unless you are at the table for eating, and to keep a distance of one meter from other people outdoors.
These rules have allowed a return to the almost complete normality and, of course, a better management of the situation. This means that you can get married in Italy without discomfort and in complete safety. So check that the borders of your country are open… Love can’t wait!
